Internationally acclaimed artists Arcade LaTour and Walfrido Garcia will paint live this weekend at Kona Oceanfront Gallery in Kailua-Kona.
The event is a kickoff for the gallery’s holiday arts shows and spans two evenings, from 5-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
LaTour is an abstract impressionist who will make his Big Island debut. LaTour will be concluding his 2017 world tour where he has appeared before packed houses in Miami, New York, Paris France, Montreal Quebec, Vancouver Canada, Seoul S. Korea, and Mexico.
Garcia is better known as Hawaii’s Artist of Natural Wonders and is the gallery’s longest-standing artist, having started his career here in 1995. Walfrido, of Filipino descent, is one of two talented brothers who were taught painting technique by their father, Edgardo Garcia, who began his career in the Philippines. Walfrido was one of the first guest artists at Wyland Galleries Hawaii back in the 1990s, and still today is featured at several locations across the United States.
Both evenings will feature wine and cheese, light pupu and soft refreshments for all. Photo opportunities and autograph sessions will be available as well as a free art raffle.
The gallery is located within Waterfront Row at 75-5770 Alii Drive in Kailua Village.
